Home security cameras are one of the most popular gadgets that people can equip their homes with. This is because home security cameras are easy to install. With a home security camera, no one can go in and out of the house unnoticed and no movement goes undetected and unrecorded.
The home security camera kit includes a camera and some software that you need to put into your computer. A typical starter home security camera kit will probably set you back about $300 to $400. The neat thing about the starter kit is that you can buy more cameras of the same brand and install those using the same software.
These home security kits have also cameras which works both as a surveillance and as motion detectors! Once movement is detected in a room where the camera is placed, the camera will start to record. You can have the camera send you email or cell phone alerts and you can view the footage of the camera from anywhere in the world over the internet, provided that your system is connected to the Internet as well.

    How Many Do You Need?
The specific number of home security cameras that you need will depend on many factors such as:
    - the size of your grounds
    - the size of your home
    - the number of rooms
    - the number of entrances and exits
    - how intensively and extensively you want every corner monitored

Keep in mind that as many as three home security cameras per room would still be useless if these cameras are not backed up by a solid home security system with people who can monitor and respond appropriately to untoward incidents should the need arise.

Home Security Cameras - Are They All The Same?

    Wireless home security cameras
Wireless home security cameras are almost a trend these days, since the old hardwired, traditional models are harder to install, maintain and oftentimes ruin the aspect of the entire home. Still, some consider hardwired home security cameras more reliable than wireless ones, since the latter can be easier to interfere with.

    Hidden/Spy home security cameras
Although most people will choose to take larger, more visible cameras for their homes in order to scare burglars away simply on their sight, others will choose to be more discrete in order to actually catch the burglars instead of just fending them off.

    Indoor/Outdoor home security cameras
The difference between indoor and outdoor security cameras is that the first are usually smaller, less imposing from a visual point of view, whereas the outdoor home security cameras are built with vandal resistance and protection from weather elements in mind.

    Fake outdoor home security cameras
Fake outdoor home security cameras are exact replicas of normal cameras, except for the fact that…they don’t do anything. Their main purpose is to look mean and protective as to scare off burglars and they can be a less expensive alternative for those high powered home security cameras.

    Night vision home security cameras
These cameras, as the name suggests, are designed to protect your home at night and they can work in complete darkness. Night vision home security cameras work as normal cameras during the day, offering quality color video but as soon as the light drops below a certain threshold, it automatically switches on its infrared mode.
